Let Natalie be x, and Fred, y.
So based on 1st condition, we get
x + y =43         - Equation 1
â´ x = 43-y - Equation 2
Now based on 2nd condition, we get
44x+y=88
Using x from Equation 2, we get
44(43-y) + y = 88
â´ 44x43 - 44y + y = 88
â´ 1892 -44y + y = 88
â´ -44y + y = 88 - 1892
â´ 43y =1804
â´ y = 1804/43
â´ y = 41.95

Using the value of y in Equation 2
x = 43 - 41.95
â´ x = 1.05

So Natalie is 1.05 yrs and Fred is 41.95 yrs old.

What are like terms in math no looking it up thx
maksim [4K]

Answer:

See below

Step-by-step explanation:

Terms are variables in math.

For example: 5x + 6y = is NOT like becuase x and y equal different things

4x + 2x = is like becuase x equals the same number in both

The reason we care about like terms is because we can simplify like terms.

4x + 2x simply equals 6x.

I'm always happy to help :)

The diameter of a bacteria colony that doubles every hour is represented by the graph below. What is the diameter of the bacteri
vlada-n [284]

Option B: 256 is the diameter of the bacteria after 8 hours.

Explanation:

From the given, it is obvious that the graph is an exponential function.

The general formula is given by,

y=a(b)^x

Where a is the initial population,

b is the growth rate and

x is the number of hours.

It is given that the diameter of the bacteria doubles every hour.

Then, we have,

b=2

Let us substitute the coordinate (0,1) and b=2, we get,

1=a(2)^0

1=a

Thus, substituting a=1 and b=2 in the general formula y=a(b)^x, we have,

y=1(2)^x

We need to determine the diameter of the bacteria after 8 hours.

Let us substitute x = 8 in the equation y=1(2)^x, we get,

y=1(2)^8

y=1(256)

y=256

Thus, the diameter of the bacteria after 8 hours is 256

Hence, Option B is the correct answer.
