I have to assume that someone goes into the store and buys 3 pens for $1.50, 8 for $4 and 12 for $6.  This is a bit confusing until you verify that the unit cost per pen is the same in all three cases.

3 pens for $1.50 comes out to $0.50 per pen;
8 pens for $4 comes out to $0.50 per pen; and
12 pens for $6 comes out to $0.50 per pen.

Summarizing:  c = ($0.50)p

Lines a and b are parallel.
VashaNatasha [74]
I have added a screenshot with the complete question along with a diagram representing the scenario.

<u><em>Answer:</em></u>
s = 22°

<u><em>Explanation:</em></u>
<u>1- getting the top right angle of line B:</u>
We are given that:
the top right angle of line A = 158°
Since lines A and B are parallel, therefore, the top right angle of line A and the top right angle of line B are corresponding angles which means that they are equal
This means that:
<u>Top right angle of line B = 158°</u>

<u>2- getting the value of s:</u>
Now, taking a look at line B, we can note that:
angle s and the top right angle form a straight angle. This means that the sum of these two angles is 180°
Therefore:
180 = s + 158
s = 180 - 158
<u>s = 22°</u>

Hope this helps :)

#1 Find the slope given the points (3,-20) and (5,8) *
Artyom0805 [142]

Hey there :)

To find the slope with <em>two points</em> we will need to use the equation  \frac{y^2-y^1}{x^2-x^1}

x^1    x^2       y^1  y^2

( 3 , -20 )  ( 5 , 8 )

Here is what the equation should look like when replaced with the numbers (<em>it will be a fraction</em>) :

                                     \frac{8 - (-20)}{5 - 3}

We know that <em>two negatives</em> cancel out and make a positive, so the numerator would actually be 8 + 20.

Solve the fraction and we get   \frac{28}{2}

28 <em>divided</em> by 2 is 14. The slope is 14.
