A cat that weighs 55 N sits on the top of a cat tree. It is 2 m above a 110 N
Nesterboy [21]

Answer:

B. The 55 N cat has less mass than the 110 N dog.

Explanation:

Given;

weight of the cat, W₁ = 55 N

Weight of the dog, W₂ = 110 N

distance between the cat and the dog, d = 2 m

The acceleration due to gravity (g) acting on both animals is the same irrespective of their different positions.

g = 9.8 m/s²

Force of gravity, F = W = mg

where;

m is the mass of the animals

The mass of the cat = m₁ = W₁/g

                                     m₁ = 55/9.8 = 5.6 kg

The mass of the dog = m₂ = W₂/g

                                      m₂ = 110/9.8 = 11.22 kg

Therefore, it can be seen that the mass of the cat is less than the mass of the dog.
