Hi there!

To find your answer, simply sub in the point and the slope into y-y1=m(x-x1) for y1, x1 and m!

m=-8
point: (1,-8) use this point for x1 and y1
y+8=-8(x-1)

Therefore your equation is y+8=-8(x-1)

Hope this helps!

Hey there!

A line passing through a point (x_1,y_1) and with a slope of m will have the following equation in point slope form:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

According to the given information, we know the following:

(x_1, y_1)=(1,-8)
x_1=1
y_1=-8

m=-8

Now, we can just plug in this information into the equation of y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

y-(-8)=-8(x-1)

Simplify

y+8=-8(x-1)

That's your answer. Have an awesome day! :)

A first number plus twice a second number is 13. Twice the first number plus the second totals 14. find the numbers
sashaice [31]

Answer:

the first number is 5 the second number is 4

Step-by-step explanation:

first number = x

second number = y

X+2y=13 given this isolate x  x = 13-2y

2x+y=14 substitute 13-2y for x

2(13-2y)+y=14

26-4y+y=14

-3y=-12

y=4 taking this number substitute into either equation above

x+2(4)=13

x+8=13

x=5
