~The cold war was the great rivalry between the communist Soviet Union and it't allies against the United States and it's Western allies against that began after World War ll.

In short words, many things triggered the cold war, but personally, I think the main event would be the splitting of Germany. one side democracy (USA) the other side Communist (USSR)
