The use of special effects is found in a big part of modern films. There are different types of special effects, one of them being CGI, also known as computer generated imagery. CGI is the process in which computer graphics are used to create images in media. The movie Avatar, broadcasted in 2009 and produced and directed by James Cameron, used around 70% of imagery created by CGI, including the lead character of the film. The use of CGI was a major component of the movie, as it was set in a different planet, and it successfully help to portrait the 3D version of that alien life.

Another type of special effect is the bullet time, which is the creation of a visual effect in which there is an impression of detaching the time and space of the viewer from the visible object, creating a slow motion effect. The Matrix is a movie that used bullet time effect and became a famous reference when talking about this type of special effect, as the scene in which two characters are fighting in slow motion, became a cult scene in the history of modern cinematography.

Seventy-two.

Explanation:

 • Elizabeth Lotus is an American psychologist who has published a series of studies about the unreliability and erring tendencies of eyewitness testimonies.
 • Elizabeth spent an a lot of effort in understanding the accuracy of memories and how the brain can create false memories by repression and manipulation.
 • In one of her ground breaking study, Elizabeth found that only 18 percent of her participants voted to convict the suspect when they were presented with circumstantial evidence and no eyewitnesses to a robbery-murder case.
 • However, seventy-two percent of participants voted to convict the the same suspect when they were presented with circumstantial evidence and one eyewitness.
 • According to her, one eyewitness can provide a compelling testimony to manipulate the minds of the people. Therefore, it is important for lawyers or anyone to understand the unreliability and erring tendencies of eyewitness testimonies.

'People in collectivist societies tend to value more direct communication and active conflict resolution styles in order to maintain the group' is a TRUE assertion.

Explanation:

 • In collectivist societies, the benefits gained collectively gained by the society are shared amongst its members.
 • If a certain sect of such a society is facing any kind of problem, their contribution towards the well-being of the society is disturbed. This in turn affects the entire society.
 • Hence, to avoid any such problems and to ensure smooth functioning of the society, the members of the society tend to value direct communication and use methods of active conflict resolution for quick settlements of issues.

This example illustrates the fundamental attribution error. It is a tendency of a person that explain a certain behavior of someone based on that person's personality. This is to underestimate the effect of external factors like events that happened which lead to that person's behavior at that moment.
