The maintenance of equilibrium while stationary or moving is termed balance. Balance is a state of equilibrium characterized by cancellation of all the forces by equal opposing forces. Balancing forces are forces acting in opposite directions on any object, and equal in size. Anytime there is a balanced force on an object, the object stays still or continues moving at the same speed and in the same direction.
