 Anamnesis is an interview conducted by the healthcare professional and his patient, which is intended to be a starting point in the diagnosis of a disease or a human response in vital processes in the case of the practitioner. Usually the best professional to do this is the nurse.

  The doctor listens to the patient's complaints, talks, asks various questions and requests exams to investigate what is wrong.  Their job is to diagnose the problem, disease or dysfunction (based on sympthons analysis) and prescribe treatment, which may be drug-based, lifestyle changes or even a surgical intervention.  Physicians need to keep a patient history containing symptom information, clinical examination data, and treatment.

The components of Symptom Management relates to the logical interpretations of feelings, so this would lie with the patient themselves, who can observe the physical, emotional and spiritual symptoms, which then can be presented to and interpreted by the nurse and doctors.
