During the D-Day landing the hardest task was in the hands of the <u>16th Regiment of the 1st US Infantry Division and the 116th Regiment of the 29th US Infantry Division.</u> They were constantly under the attack of German machine guns. Without a good support of the tanks they managed to capture the beaches, but with heavy casualties of around 2 000 soldiers.
The Counter-Reformation was a movement within the Roman Catholic Church. Its main reason was to reform and improve it. It started in the 1500s. Its first period is called the Catholic Reformation.
