How did Gompers and his American Federation of Labor try to improve conditions for workers?
Kamila [148]

Answer:

He was a diehard capitalist and saw no need for a radical restructuring of America. Gompers quickly learned that the issues that workers cared about most deeply were personal. They wanted higher wages and better working conditions. These "bread and butter" issues would always unite the labor class.

The war developed from Russia's and Japan's rivalry for dominance in Korea and Manchuria. After the First Sino-Japanese War, Jap
Alekssandra [29.7K]

Answer:

The statements are referring to the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905.

Explanation:

The Russo-Japanese War was a conflict between Russia and Japan due to the two countries' imperialist aspirations in Asia, especially related to Korea and Manchuria. The war started in February 1904 and ended in September the following year. The land battles were particularly fought over the city of Port Arthur and the Liaodong Peninsula as well as the railway from the port to Harbin.

Russia suffered a series of defeats in the conflict and had to give Japan a number of concessions at the peace treaty, including the control of Korea.

The outcome of the war first led to a major change in the balance of power in East Asia, and opened in the longer term for later Japanese expansion.  Russia abandoned Liaodong and Port Arthur, relinquished the southern half of the island of Sakhalin to Japan, and withdrew from Manchuria. Korea thus remained uncontested in Japan's sphere of interest.

In a wider sense, the humiliating Russian defeat contributed to the internal tension and dissatisfaction with the Tsar regime in Russia, leading up to the 1905 revolution.

How would America be different today if it did not have history of immigration?why?
Nadusha1986 [10]

Answer:

America is a country of immigrants yes, but, it is a country of citizens.  The thing about America is that it is the only country in which anyone could come to and have a chance to make it one merit alone.  There were other factors such as race, however, there was not and never was a cast system.  I hate it when people say "the middle class, or lower class.  Say middle income, or lower income.  We do not have a class system here.

Everywhere man has explored and conquered.  That is just what men do.  Even in the islands, the men would try to conquer one island over another.  It is not just The white Europeans that conquered land.  Everyone did it. So if the White Europeans did not come and immigrate, then others would have.  The Spanish people were in America for 300 years before the Mexicans were.  Then they were here for about 15 years.  The Native Americans were here, but where did they come from?  There are many theories about that.

All I know is that Men were inspired to come here.  There were bad men who came here.  The people at Jamestown were not good.  The Pilgrims who came for religious freedom and ended up at Plymouth rock were good.  Out of 18 mothers, 14 of them dies that first winter.  Why? because they gave up their meager food for their children.  They kept their children warn with their own bodies.   They did that for the next generation.  Those are the immigrants who wanted a place that people could come from all walks of life to live in freedom.  To live in religious freedom.  To live in complete autonomy.  No master. No king.  Just work for your own self.  Earn from your own hands.  I hope we can hold on to that.

If immigration is just coming for a handout, that is not America.  If immigration is to bring slave labor, that is not America.  America is meant to be a place of freedom and also a place that is an example for other countries to look to and follow.  The world cannot all come here.  It would have been impossible for America not to have a history of immigration.  Men are naturally curious and they always went everywhere they could.  They still continue to explore anywhere that has not been discovered.  We go to space, to deep in the ocean, to the coldest places we can.  Men naturally explore.
