The "Oil Glut" of the 1980s was a surplus of oil supply caused by the reduced demand due to the 1970s Energy Crisis. After reaching a historical peak of $35 in 1980, the price of the oil barrel would sharply fall from $27 to less than $10 in 1986 due to the excess in the offer. This would severely affect the economic wealth of the Oil producing countries, such as the Soviet Union. This event would be one of the main factors that contributed to an eventual fall of the Soviet regime and dissolution of the country in 1991.

In this passage of Wang Kŏn, we can appreciate his opinion about the national identity. Over the years, Corea was under the influence of countries such as China that is why it was customary to follow its models as a reference in many fields (economic, institutional, political, etc.).  Then arose the Wang' statement, who said this behavior was illogical because their situation was very different, his nation has other factors such as geographical location and type of population that make unjustified to pretend to do the same as other cultures.

Which was an advantage held by the South over the North at the start of the Civil War?
natta225 [31]
An advantage held by the South over the North at the start of the Civil War was B. it's soldier and generals believed they were protecting their homes and way of life. Since the South seceded from the North, all it had to do was exist to continue as an independent nation. It was up to the North to invade and restore order and thus the South was fighting a defensive war (much easier than the opposite - an offensive war).
