BB = 16%

Bb = 24%

The gene frequency for BB = 16/100 = 0.16

To find allelic frequency of B;

B = √0.16 = 0.4

Remember Hardy Weinberg rule that all allelic frequencies of a gene must sum up to 1;

p + q = 1

If p = 0.4

q = 1 – 0.4 = 0.6

b = 0.6
