we call the smaller integer x the greater x+1 (consecutive)

x = 2(x+1) - 12

x=2x+2-12

x-2x=2-12

-x=-10

x=10

x+1=11

On the game show «  the price is right », the highest winning amount was $262,743. The next largest winning amount was only 81.4
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

The second highest winning amount was of $213,876

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the main prize of "The price is right" won is $ 262,743, and that the second highest prize in the history of said program is 81.4012% of said value, to obtain said number the following calculation must be performed:

(262,743 / 100) x 81.4012 = X

2,627.43 x 81.4012 = X

213,875.95 = X

Therefore, rounded to the nearest dollar, the second highest prize in the program was $213,876.

Which of the following sets of values correctly completes the T chart for the equation Y =|3x+1|. -5,1,7
Ivahew [28]

Option C:

5, 1, 7

Solution:

Given equation:

y = |3x + 1|

In the chart, x values are given as –2, 0, 2.

To find the value of y for the corresponding x given.

Substitute x  = –2 in the equation of y.

y = |3(–2) + 1|

  = |–6 + 1|

  = |–5|   (Absolute value of a negative number is positive)

y = 5

Substitute x  = 0 in the equation of y.

y = |3(0) + 1|

  = |0 + 1|

  = |1|

y = 1

Substitute x  = 2 in the equation of y.

y = |3(2) + 1|

  = |6 + 1|

  = |7|   (Absolute value of a negative number is positive)

y = 7

Option C is the correct answer.

The values of y are 5, 1, 7.

6. At the beginning of school, Julie bought one 3-subject notebook and four single-subject notebooks
larisa [96]

Answer: 3-subject notebook cost $0.67 or 67 cents and the single-notebook cost  $0.33 or 33 cents.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's represent the 3-subject notebook by y and the single-notebook by x.

y has to cost twice as much as x and we can represent that by the equation

y = 2x

We now know that the total cost of the 3-subject notebook and the single-subject notebook has to equal  $1.

We can also represent that by the equation and solve for x

2x + x = 1

3x = 1

x = 0.33   $0.33 or 33 cents

If the single-subject is $33 cents then subtract it from a dollar to see how much the 3-subject notebook costed.

1- 0.33 = 0.67
