avanturin [10]

Answer:

D.) Could not settle disputes

Explanation:

The major downfall of the Articles of Confederation was simply weakness. The federal government, under the Articles, was too weak to enforce their laws and therefore had no power. The Continental Congress had borrowed money to fight the Revolutionary War and could not repay their debts.

In his first term, President Thomas Jefferson Select one: a. argued for mandatory military service to mold and improve citizens.
Oksi-84 [34.3K]

Answer:

Option E, helped establish a military academy at West Point, is the right answer.

Explanation:

President Thomas Jefferson established the Military Academy at West Point in the year 1802. The main reason for building such an academy was that the British never captured "Fortress West Point". Moreover, it was the oldest working military post in the United States. Some of the legislators, as well as soldiers, did not want to depend on the foreign engineers and artillerists and thus they urged the government to build such an institution.

How were louis xiv and james ii similar and different
MArishka [77]

Answer: Louis XIV and James II aspired to an absolutist system of government.

Explanation:

Similarities: Both rulers advocated absolutism as a system of government. We can define the state in absolutism as a monarchy. It is a system of government created by breaking the links between the Middle Ages and the New Age. The rulers, as proponents of these ideas, sought to put all the institutions of the state under their control. The most obvious example of an absolutist monarchy in Europe is France.

Differences : Unlike the French ruler Louis XIV, who fully implemented his absolutist values, this was not the case with James II. James II in his quest to make England an absolutist monarchy did not find popular support. James II's intentions were contrary to the views of the English Parliament. In the end, coming into conflict with Parliament and even the church (absolutism implied the subjugation of the church), James II would ultimately lose this battle. On the other hand, Louis XIV did not have these problems and until his death, he enjoyed the absolutist model of government.
