Key events which happened in the Roman Republic drastically shaped how this once great empire was keeping its power. It drastically grew in in size and power following the Punic Wars as Rome then established itself as a massive naval force in the Mediterranean as well. What was also the case was that the Patricians were the ruling class and didn't care about the opinions of the plebeans.
