As blood enters the artery, the walls of these vessels expand and contract, which can be felt as the pulse where the arteries run close to the body surface.

It is common to detect the pulse with a few fingers placed on the radial artery on the wrist, or the carotid artery in the neck.

Because the walls of the arteries pulse whenever the left ventricle contracts, the pulse rate generally indicates the cardiac function, which is normally between 50 and 85 in a healthy adult.

Pulse is usually defined as the rhythmic dilation of the arteries due to flow of the blood caused by heart contractions. The measurement of the pulse rate can be used for the diagnosis of  serious disease such as cardiac disease.

If a double-stranded segment of DNA has been found to have 23 purines and 15 thymines, how many guanines are there?
Serggg [28]

Answer: 4 Guanines

Explanation: Following Chargaff's ratio that describes the ration of purines to pyrimidines as 1:1, if there are 23 purines, it follows that there should be 23 pyrimidines; 15 Thymines should therefore be hydrogen bonded to 15 Adenines by complementary base pairing.

We are then left with 8 nucleotides composed of guanines and cytosines in complementary base pairs. This means that half that number (4) should be guanines and the rest cytosines.

When shopping for fruit trees for your yard select varieties that mature before the hot summer temperatures arrive to avoid sunb
notka56 [123]

Answer:

True.

When shopping for fruit trees for the yard we should select varieties that mature before the hot summer temperatures arrive to avoid sunburning fruit.

Explanation:

  • The fruit trees on your yard should be carefully selected, always seek for the fruit that matures before the summer season.
  • The summer season hot weather is most likely to burn down the tree and may also kill it before it can grow.
  • Once it gets matured then there is no drastic effect of sun so, we must select tree in such a manner that it must get matured before hot summer.

4. The Rh blood type response system is controlled by the D allele. The genotypes DD and Dd are Rh (Rh positive); dd is Rh- (Rh
DedPeter [7]

Answer:

A - Frequency of D allele = 0.35

Frequency of d allele = 0.65

B- Frequency of DD genotype = 0.1225

Frequency of Dd genotype = 0.455

Frequency of dd genotype = 0.425.

C - Total population = 400

Frequency of heterozygous population = 400*0.455 = 183.

EXPLANATION:

The equilibrium sum of all the allelic frequency of a gene is always 1 and sum of all the genotypic frequency of all the genotype is always 1 - This is according to Hardy-Weinberg.

So p+q =1

p2+ 2pq+q2 =1

where p = frequency of dominant allele

q is the frequency of the recessive allele.

from the question, it was given that there were  170 individual out of 400, which were Rh- negative,

So q2 = 170/400 = 0.425

q= 0.65

Also p+q =1

so p = 1-q

or p = 1-0.65

Hence p =0.35

Frequency of homozgupus for D allele = 0.35*0.35 = 0.1225

Frequency of heterozygous or Dd will be 2pq.

or 2*0.35*0.65 = 0.455

A - Frequency of D allele = 0.35

Frequency of d allele = 0.65

B- Frequency of DD genotype = 0.1225

Frequency of Dd genotype = 0.455

Frequency of dd genotype = 0.425.

C - Total population = 400

Frequency of heterozygous population = 400*0.455 = 183.
