Similar Triangle
The small triangle and the large triangle are similar triangles. They have the same proportion in the corresponding side. We could solve h by making a comparison of base-hypotenuse.
\dfrac{\text{base}}{\text{hypotenuse}} =  \dfrac{\text{base}}{\text{hypotenuse}}

In this case, we could write it as:
\dfrac{\text{large base}}{\text{large hypotenuse}} =  \dfrac{\text{small base}}{\text{small hypotenuse}}

Input the numbers into the formula above
\dfrac{h}{280+70} = \dfrac{20}{280}
Simplify the fraction
\dfrac{h}{350} = \dfrac{20:20}{280:20}
\dfrac{h}{350} = \dfrac{1}{14}
Do cross multiplication
14 × h = 350 × 1
14h = 350
    h = 350/14
    h = 25

The value of h is 25

Solve the system of equations.<br> y= 3x<br> y= x2-10
svetoff [14.1K]

Answer:

(-5, 2) and (2, 6)

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the substitution method. We know that y = 3x and y = x^2 - 10, so we can set them equal to one another.

3x = x^2 - 10

x^2 - 3x - 10 = 0

Use the quadratic equation to solve for x.

x = - 5, 2

Now solve for y using these two values of x by substituting it back into the equations.

y = - 15,  6

In coordinate form, (-5, 2) and (2, 6)

Simple division. 269/48=5.60416666667. You probably cannot put decimals, so round to 6.

Find the solution set (x,y,z) of the system:<br> 3x-2y+4z=6<br> 2y-3z=20<br> 6z=12
gizmo_the_mogwai [7]

Answer:

The solution is x = 8, y = 13 and z = 2.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given a system of equations with the variables x, y, and z from which we have to solve for x, y, and z.

The equations are

3x - 2y + 4z = 6 ........ (1)

2y - 3z = 20 .......... (2)

6z = 12 ......... (3)

Now, from equation (3),  we get z = 2.

Now, putting z = 2 in equation (2) we get

2y = 20 + 6 = 26

⇒ y = 13

Now, from equation (1), putting y = 13 and z = 2, we get

3x = 6 - (4 × 2) + (2 × 13) = 24

⇒ x = 8

So the solution is x = 8, y = 13 and z = 2. (Answer)
