Crimea is a peninsula in southern Ukraine strategically located on the shores of the Black Sea with access also to the Sea of Azov. With a great pro-Russian feeling, this region has about two and a half million inhabitants and they speak Russian. Crimea is, geographically, a peninsula located between the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. It borders the Chersonese region (Kherson Oblast, Ukraine) to the north, with the Black Sea to the south and west and the Azov Sea to the east. Crimea connects with Ukraine on the Isthmus of Perekop, from 5 to 7 km wide. At the eastern end lies the Kerch peninsula, which is directly opposite the Tamán peninsula
