Hey there, 29levelupchaye2!

We know that a midsegment connects two midpoints of two of the sides of a triangle.
Example: Midpoint of side A connects midpoint of side B making midsegment DE
And that midsegment is parallel and half of the third side.
Example: Midsegment DE must be parallel to side C or third side of the triangle. Midsegment DE must be half of side C
So, in the problem it's given that the midsegment is
2x + 6
And the side that is parallel to it is HI which is
5x + 9
So,
5x + 9
must be twice as
2x + 6
since it's the midsegment.
5x + 9 = 2(2x + 6)
I'm multiplying it by two since the midsegment is half of the side that is parallel.
Once distributed, you will get something like
5x  + 9 = 4x + 12
And now we solve for x
5x - 4x + 9 = 4x - 4x + 12
x + 9 = 12
x + 9 - 9 = 12 - 9
x = 3
So, the formula is
5x + 9 = 2(2x + 6)
And distributed is
5x + 9 = 4x + 12
And the solution is
x = 3
Midsegment is 12 units
And the side is 24 units.

<em>An adult ticket costs $205 and a child ticket costs $49.</em>

<h2>Explanation:</h2>

Hello! Recall you have to write complete questions in order to find exact answers. Here I'll assume the complete question as:

<em>Two families are planning a trip to Disney. The Smith family bought tickets for 2 adults and 3 children for $557. The Jones family bought tickets for 2 adults and 1 child </em><em>for $459</em><em>. How much does and adult and child ticket cost?</em>

To solve this problem, we need to write a system of linear equations in two variables. So, we know some facts:

  • Two families are planning a trip to Disney.
  • The Smith family bought tickets for 2 adults and 3 children for $557.
  • The Jones family bought tickets for 2 adults and 1 child for $459.

Let:

x:Cost \ of \ ticket \ per \ adult \\ \\ y: Cost \ of \ ticket \ per \ child

For the Smith family:

Cost for the 2 adults:

2x

Cost for the 3 children:

3y

Total cost:

2x+3y=557

For the Jones family:

Cost for the 2 adults:

2x

Cost for the 1 child:

y

Total cost:

2x+y=459

So we have the following system of linear equations:

\begin{array}{c}(1)\\(2)\end{array}\left\{ \begin{array}{c}2x+3y=557\\2x+y=459\end{array}\right.

Subtracting (2) from (1):

\begin{array}{c}(1)\\(2)\end{array}\left\{ \begin{array}{c}2x+3y=557\\-(2x+y=459)\end{array}\right. \\ \\ \\ \begin{array}{c}(1)\\(2)\end{array}\left\{ \begin{array}{c}2x+3y=557\\-2x-y=-459\end{array}\right. \\ \\ \\ (2x-2x)+(3y-y)=557-459 \\ \\ 2y=98 \\ \\ y=49 \\ \\ \\ Finding \ x \ from \ (1): \\ \\ 2x+3(49)=557 \\ \\ 2x=557-147 \\ \\ 2x=410 \\ \\ x=205

Finally, <em>an adult ticket costs $205 and a child ticket costs $49.</em>

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM
Klio2033 [76]

Answer:

V ≈ 2011 cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

The volume (V) of a cylinder is calculated as

V = area of base × perpendicular height

V = πr²h ( r is the radius and h the height )

Here r = 8 and h = 10, thus

V = π × 8² × 10

  = π × 64 × 10 = 640π ≈ 2011 cm³ ( to nearest whole number )
