Although to me none of these options seem correct, I'd still choose 3. He realizes that he has been so caught up in dreams that he has failed to recognize the simple joys of everyday life.
This is the final sentence in Araby: "Gazing up into the darkness I saw myself as a creature driven and derided by vanity, and my eyes burned with anguish and anger."
You can see here that he is definitely not happy about his experiences at the bazaar - he realizes some truths about life and is completely crushed after that realization.

My parents____when my teacher called them and told them about my poor grades?
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Answer:

The correct answer is - had a cow.

Explanation:

The phrase that would be used in the given blank of the statement is "had a cow" which means reacting strongly and emotionally. It is explained as being very upset, worried, or angry about something.

In this case, the parents of the student are very upset due to his poor grades and being embarrassed by calling by the teacher. Therefore the best phrase that should be used here would be - had a cow.

Use word roots and context clues to determine word best competes each sentence Plsagisrism is the act of copying a writer's word
bulgar [2K]

This question is about the use of foreign words or expressions to complete the sentences.

Answer:

Plagiarism is the act of copying a writer's words verbatim and claiming them as one's own.

I had a sense of déjà vu when I saw the girl who looked just like her mother used to.

I trust you completely. You have complete carte blanche to arrange the party.

Explanation:

Saying or writing something verbatim means using the exact same words that were originally used.

Déjà vu is an expression which refers to the illusion of remembering scenes, the feeling of having already lived this moment, or simply a feeling of familiarity.

The French expression "carte blanche" means giving someone complete freedom to do something because you trust them entirely.

As we can see, all the expressions above make sense when we take the context clues of each sentence into consideration.
