Leo, Kush and Mai share some money in the ratio 3:5:8

Mathematics
1 answer:
Marta_Voda [28]3 years ago
5 0

Answer:

The total amount of money that they shared is \£6,000

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x-----> amount of money Leo shares

y-----> amount of money Kush shares

z-----> amount of money Mai shares

we know that

\frac{x}{y} =\frac{3}{5}

x=\frac{3}{5}y -----> equation A

\frac{y}{z} =\frac{5}{8}

z=\frac{8}{5}y -----> equation B

\frac{x}{z} =\frac{3}{8}

z=\frac{8}{3}x -----> equation C

y=x+750 ------> equation D

substitute equation A in equation D and solve for y

y=\frac{3}{5}y+750

y-\frac{3}{5}y=750

\frac{2}{5}y=750

y=750*5/2=\£1,875

Find the value of x (equation A)

x=\frac{3}{5}(1,875)=\£1,125

Find the value of z (equation C)

z=\frac{8}{3}(1,125)=\£3,000

therefore

The total amount of money is equal to

x+y+z=\£1,125+\£1,875+\£3,000=\£6,000

What is the mass (in grams) of 8.11×1026 CO2 molecules?
Kobotan [32]

Answer:

<u>It</u><u> </u><u>is</u><u> </u><u>5</u><u>9</u><u>,</u><u>2</u><u>7</u><u>5</u><u>.</u><u>7</u><u>4</u><u> </u><u>grams</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

• Molecular mass of carbon dioxide

= (12 \times 1) + (16 \times 2) \\  = 12 + 32 \\  = 44 \: g

[ molar masses: C = 12 g, O = 16 g ]

• From avogadro's number, it says 1 mole contains 6.02 × 10^23 molecules or atoms.

But 1 mole is equivalent to its molar mass in terms of weight, therefore;

{ \sf{6.02 \times  {10}^{23}  \: molecules = 44 \: g }}\\  { \sf{8.11 \times  {10}^{26}  \: molecules =( \frac{8.11 \times  {10}^{26} }{6.02 \times  {10}^{23} }   \times 44) \: g}} \\  \\  = { \boxed{ \boxed{ \bf{59275.7 \:  \: g}}}}

The sum of two numbers is 22 and their difference is 12 what are the numbers
nlexa [21]

Answer:

The numbers are 17 and 5

Step-by-step explanation:

x + y = 22

x - y = 12

Add y to both sides of the equation

x = 12 + y

Substitute new value for x into first equation

12 + y + y = 22

Add the y's

12 + 2y = 22

Subtract 12 from both sides

2y = 10

y = 5

22 - 5 = 17

The numbers are 17 and 5

Hope this helps :)

Vertices A and B of triangle ABC are on one bank of a river, and vertex C is on the opposite bank. The distance between A and B
AURORKA [14]
A suitable solver will tell you instantly that the measure of b is 179.18 ft.

_____
If you want to do it yourself (meaning also with the aid of a calculator), you can use the Law of Sines. The given side is side "c", so you need the measure of angle C. That will be
  180° -33° -63° = 84°
Then side "b" can be found from
  b/sin(B) = c/sin(C)
  b = c*sin(B)/sin(C)
  b = (200 ft)*sin(63°)/sin(84°) ≈ 179.183 ft
