Malawians eat rice, cassava, potatoes, and maize-based nsima. The Malawi people are of Bantu origin. The Chichewa people form the largest part of the population group and are largely in the central and southern parts of Malawi. In Malawi, maize is grown as the staple food for home consumption. Tea is the country's second largest export.
