Hello! I'm writing a paper and need to use textual examples. We're using MLA format and I know the proper way of citing the auth

or is (lastname, linenumber). But if the author has an initial for their first name would I include the initial, or just use their last name in my citation. (Sorry if this is a dumb question) for example, the author's name is O. Henry, so would I write: "quote here" (O. Henry, 110). or "quote here" (Henry, 110).

HELP PLEASE!! What is the purpose of writing down one’s thoughts, either in an essay or through poetry?
Vikentia [17]

Answer:

It helps you and the people around you.

Explanation:

When you write down your thoughts, you're expressing yourself. If you choose to publish your writing or show others, you're sharing your thoughts with others. Your thoughts can help them by being relatable, being inspiring, or being helpful. Even if you choose not to share your writing, you're still helping yourself psychologically because it is healthy to express and explore your thoughts and emotions, and it can help you understand them more once you get them on paper. It also helps you document your thoughts for future use.

Read the passage below. Then, answer the writing prompts.
faust18 [17]

Answer:

one is "Don't mess this up for me, OK, Scrooge?" because this is relating to Dickens's A Christmas Carol and another would be "Alright, Romeo" because this is alluding to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Explanation:

An Allusion-an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference.

I hope this was good enough for you:

Evening By Victoria Mary Sackville-West When little lights in little ports come out, Quivering down through water with the stars
Alex73 [517]

Answer:

None of them

Explanation:

A The text describes not a part of a ship but the cosmological harmony of a seaport.

B The stars and little lights; clearly this is not a daytime scene.

C The poetic beauty of the text lies in the powerful energy the writer receives from the darkness that caresses the seaport and its observer.

D No it doesn´t, but it does imply the consolation and possible harmony with one´s existence that awaits us when growing old:

¨Old age... Weathered through storms, and gracious in retreat.¨
