Answer: 1 dozen cupcakes can be made in 12 cups of flour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The amount of flour a baker has = 8\dfrac{5}{8}\text{ cups}= \dfrac{8\times8+5}{8}\text{ cups}

=\dfrac{69}{8}\text{ cups}

The number of cupcakes he made by using all flour = 3\dfrac{5}{6}=\dfrac{6\times3+5}{6}=\dfrac{23}{6}

i.e. \dfrac{23}{6} cupcakes made in \dfrac{69}{8} cups of flour

By unitary method ,

1 cupcake made in \dfrac{69}{8}\times\dfrac{6}{23}  cups of flour.

i.e. 1 cupcake made in \dfrac{9}{4}  cups of flour.

Then , 12 cupcakes can be made in 12\times\dfrac{9}{4}  cups of flour.

= 27 cups of flour.

Since<em> 1 dozen = 12</em>

Then , 1 dozen cupcakes can be made in 12 cups of flour.

Solve for x
Ghella [55]

Answer:

1. x=105

2. 12 cans for $4

3. 14

Step-by-step explanation:

1. 15/18 = x/126

126/18=7

x=15*7=105

2. 12 cans for $4.  36 for $11.50.

36/3=12.  11.50/3=3.8333.

12 cans for $4 is the better deal because it would be an equal deal if it was 36 for 12:00.

3. Circumference = pi*d.  Circumference = 43.96.  pi=3.14.  3.14*x=43.96.  x=diameter.  x=14.  diameter = 14

--Explanation to 3.14*x=43.96:

3.14*x=43.96, = 3.14x=43.96

3.14x*100 =43.96*100

314x=4396

314x/314 = 4396/314

x=14

Solve for y. Round to the nearest hundredth
beks73 [17]

Answer:

Correct answer:  Third answer  y = 7.96

Step-by-step explanation:

By definition of tan we obtain:

6 / y = tan 37°  ⇒ y = 6 / tan 37° = 6 / 0.75355 = 7.96

y = 7.96

Find the distance between points a(2,4) and b(-4,-3 round answer to nearest tenth
vesna_86 [32]
For this, you'd need to know the Euclidean Distance Formula (it's basically the most common one)
                  −−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−
distance=√<span>(<span>x2</span>−<span>x1</span><span>)^2</span>+(<span>y2</span>−<span>y1</span><span>)^2

You would just plug in the points so A is at (2,4) this means that 2 is x1 and 4 is y1. Same with point B but instead of -4 being x1 it would be x2 alsong with -3 being y2.

Ok so when you plug in the points, you get this equation that should be simplified

</span></span>                  −−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−
distance=√(-4−2)^2+(-3−4)^2

                  −−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−
distance=√(-4+(-2))^2+(-3+(-4))^2

I negated the 2 and 4 because of the rules with negatives which basically states that if a positive number is being subtracted from a negative number, it will be multiplied by -1 to make the positive a negative number. Also the subtraction sign will be changed into an addition sign.
Simplify this.

                  −−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−
distance=√(-6)^2+(-7)^2

6^2 = 36
7^2= 49

                  −−−−−
distance=√36+49

36+49=85
                  −−
distance=√85

Then the square root of 85 is <span>9.21954445729, but because we are rounding to the nearest tenth</span> the distance is 9.2.
