2x = 4y + 10
2x - 10 = 4y

divide both sides by 4 to isolate the y.
1/2x - 5/2 = y

Therefore the slope is 1/2.

Nate’s work to solve a math problem is shown below.
Ray Of Light [21]

Answer:

Answer (C) ⇒ He replaced the wrong term with its reciprocal in step 2

Answer (A) ⇒ How many 3/8 's in 48

Step-by-step explanation:

∵ The distance = 25 miles

∵ The time = 2/3 hour

∵ Average speed = distance ÷ time

∴ Average speed = 25 ÷ 2/3 ⇒ step 1 (he is √)

                              = 25 × 3/2 ⇒ step 2 (his 1st error 1/25 × 2/3)

                              = 75/2 miles/h

∵ How many 3/8 's are in 48 means:

  48 ÷ 3/8 = 48 × 8/3 = 128

∴ Answer (A) is best modeled with a division expression

A parabola can be drawn given a focus of (−6,−1) and a directrix of y=1. Write the equation of the parabola in any form.
kkurt [141]

Answer:

y = -(x + 6)²/4

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the equation of a parabola is given as the distance of a point to a given point(focus) being equal to the distance of the point fro a given line (directrix),

and our focus is at (-6,-1) and our directrix is y = 1, then by the distance equation, the distance from each point to the point (x, y) is

√[(x - x)² + (y - 1)²] = √[(x - (-6))² + (y - (-1))²]

√[0² + (y - 1)²] = √[(x + 6)² + (y + 1)²]

√(y² -2y + 1) = √[(x² + 12x + 36) + (y² + 2y + 1)]

squaring both sides, we have

y² - 2y + 1 = x² + 12x + 36 + y² + 2y + 1

collecting like terms, we have

y² - 2y - y² - 2y = x² + 12x + 36 + 1 - 1

simplifying, we have

- 4y = x² + 12x + 36

factorizing the expression in x, we have

-4y = (x + 6)²

y = -(x + 6)²/4

The satang coin from Thailand has a radius of about 7 mm
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Given:

The satang coin from Thailand has a radius of about 7 mm.

We need to determine the diameter and circumference of the coin.

Diameter of the coin:

The diameter of the coin can be determined by multiply the radius by 2.

Thus, we have;

d=2r

Substituting r = 7, we get;

d=2(7)

d=14 \ mm

Thus, the diameter of the coin is 14 mm.

Circumference of the coin:

The circumference of the coin can be determined using the formula,

C=\pi d

Substituting \pi=3.14 and d=14, we get;

C=(3.14)(14)

C=43.96 \ mm

Thus, the approximate value of the circumference of the coin is 43.96 mm
