It would definitely be a long, expensive process. Before the Gutenberg press, anything that was to be printed would have to be hand-copied, whether it was a 2-page pamphlet or a 200-page book!

Printing before the invention of the Gutenberg printing press was a long, expensive process.

Before the printing press was invented, writings were produced by hand. Generally, the ones in charge of producing these texts were the scribes, the professional copyists who lived in monasteries. Moreover, it used to take the scribes several months to complete their jobs.

Different expensive materials, such as papyrus, clay, wax, and parchment, were used to transcribe law books, tragedies, and works related to philosophy. For that reason, books were sold at a very high price; therefore, few people had access to them. Gutenberg's invention allowed more people to access knowledge since the printing press became a less costly and faster method to reproduce texts.

Why did our nations founders believe deeply in safegaurding the economic freedom
drek231 [11]
They believed in economic freedom out of two reasons. One was that each person should have the right to manage their property and resources as they see fit, and the other being that they believed that if governments imposed their will on the market it would lead to tyranny and oppression since the government could become a monopolistic one and bother the people.

When California applied for statehood, Southern states feared
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]

The correct answer is A. When California applied for statehood, the Southern states feared that they would lose equality in the Senate. Before the admission of California, Southern slavist states and Northern free states had the same number of Senators. But when California was admitted in 1850, it entered into the Union as a free state, so it created a power disbalance for the Southern states, giving to extra votes to the abolitionist states.
