You got it! The minimum point of a quadratic function is basically the point at "the bottom of the bowl" on the parabola. Looking at the y-axis, we see that f(x)=-8 is the functions minimum, and the corresponding x value is 2.

Perpendicular line for 7 x + 5 y equals -1
Leya [2.2K]
7x + 5y = -1
get: y = mx + c
firstly, subtract 7x from both sides:
5y = -7x -1
divide both sides by 5:
y = (-7x -1)/5:
y= -7x/5 -1/5
therefore the slope, m  = -7/5 in the formula y = mx + c
perpendicular test m1 .m2 = -1
m1 = -7/5, substitute in formula:
(-7/5) x m2 = -1
m2 = -1 /(-7/5) which equals [ invert and multiply] -1 x -5/7 = 5/7
perpendicular slope m2 = 5/7
new line y=mx +c is:
y = 5/7 x -1/5

How can you determine if a graph is proportional or not? Explain
LuckyWell [14K]

Answer:

To determine if a proportional relationship exists look for the data to lie on a straight line passing through the origin. to examine the ratio y/x (instead of x/y).

Step-by-step explanation:

Hope this helps! :)

Help please. Thanks :3
VashaNatasha [74]
(a.) constant of proportionality k
y = kx
y/x = k
use the point (1,30)
30 = k

The slope will be the same answer, theyre the same thing
use two points (1,30) and (2,60)
m = (60-30)/(2-1) = 30

(b.) The equation for the line is: y = 30x

The team ran
juin [17]

The team ran 2 miles.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1; The track is \frac{3}{4} miles long and the team ran 2\frac{2}{3} laps on it. To calculate the distance run we multiply the number of laps ran with the distance on each lap.

Distance run = Number of laps × Distance on each lap.

Step 2; We convert 2\frac{2}{3} from a mixed fraction into an improper fraction. To do this, we multiply the whole number with the denominator of the fraction and add with it the numerator of the same fraction whereas the denominator remains unchanged. To convert the fraction 2\frac{2}{3} = ((2 × 3) + 2) / 3 = \frac{8}{3}.

Distance run = Number of laps × Distance on each lap = \frac{8}{3} × \frac{3}{4} = \frac{8}{4} = 2 miles.
