Proteins are macromolecules of great importance that are made of amino acids. There are 20 types of amino acids and each protein has its specific amino acid sequence.
For the protein to be synthesized correctly with all of its correct amino acids in the correct order, there is a molecule that serves as a guide: the mRNA.
mRNA is a single-strand-molecule that is composed of a sequence of nucleotides. A codon forms from every three nucleotides (for example: AGA, or GCU), and each codon codifies for an amino acid. This way, the mRNA provides the right amino acids for a protein to be created and be functional to the cell.
