The Christopher Commission report was published 4 months after the beating of an African-American construction worker by the name of Rodney King. The report brought to light police brutality and unprofessional at Los Angeles Police stations. Some of the problems highlighted included failure to complete complaints from people resulting in the lack of investigation without proper filing.

In addition, police used excessive force on people as in the case of Rodney King who was severely beaten by the police during his arrest and also they also, failed to adhere to guidelines and policies regarding the police force. The report recommended for police to act in accordance with laws governing the force and to take accountability in the form of bringing officers who act against policies.
