A coup d'etat or simply, a coup or a putsch, refers to the illegal derrocation of an existing legitimate goverment, hence, it is the seizure of power undertaken by a dictator, or a military or political organization which subsequently aims to appoint a dictator since, in any case, such govenor has not been democratically elected by the citizenship.
