Answer: A. Zionism

Zionism is the national movement of the Jewish people. It supports the re-establishment of a Jewish land in the territory roughly corresponding to Canaan, the Holy Land and Palestine. The movement is one of the main reasons of conflict between Israel and Palestine.

This movement was particularly strong in the late 19th century in Central and Eastern Europe. Initially fuelled by other nationalist movements, it gained support after the Holocaust, when a large percentage of the Jewish population believed they would never be able to live peacefully in Europe due to antisemitism.
