Solve the equation using the Quadratic Formula. x2 - 8x + 15 = 0 Select the correct choice below and, if necessary, fill in the
Ahat [919]

Answer:

x = (5,3)

Step-by-step explanation:

the quadratic formula is x =( -b±√(b^2-4ac))/2a

to solve for x, a=1, b=-8,c=15

x =( -(-8)±√((-8)^2-4*1*15))/2(1)

x=8 ± √(64-60))/2(1)

x=(8 ± √(4)) / 2

x=(8 ± 2) / 2

solve with '+'

x=(8 + 2) / 2 = 10/5 = 5

solve with '-'

x=(8 - 2) / 2 = 6/2 = 3

x = (5,3)

You put $939 into an investment at 6% for 6 years. What will be the balance at the end of 6 years
Alecsey [184]

We will use a Future Value Formula:

FV=PV(1 + i)ⁿ

$939 is our Present Value (PV)

.06 (6%) will be substitued for i (interest)

6 years will be substituated for "n" (numbers of periods)

FV = $939 (1 + .06) ^6

FV = 1331.989446 or rounded to 1331.99 balance at the end of 6 years

Karan needs to choose between two gym plans. He can either pay a $ 1 5 0 $150dollar sign, 150 joining fee and a $ 1 0 $10dollar
stira [4]

Calculation for plan A:

Let numbe of months = x

Given that $10 is the monthly fee.

Given that $150 is the joining fee.

Then cost equation for plan A is given by:

A=10x+150

Calculation for plan B:

Let numbe of months = x

Given that $30 is the monthly fee.

Given that $50 is the joining fee.

Then cost equation for plan B is given by:

B=30x+50

Now we have to find on what month will the cumulative costs of the plans be equal.

So we will just set both equations equal to each other

10x+150=30x+50

150-50=30x-10x

100=20x

5=x

Hence it will take 5 months to make cost of both plans equal.

To find the total cost plug x=5 into any of above equations:

A=10x+150=10*5+150=50+150=200

Hence final cost will be $200.

1. A right triangle has legs measuring 7 inches and 9 inches. What is true about the hypotenuse? *
JulsSmile [24]

Answer: The hypotenuse is about 11 inches and it is greater than the legs

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi, we have to apply the Pythagorean Theorem:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

Where c is the hypotenuse of the triangle (the longest side) and a and b are the legs.

Replacing with the values given:

c^2 = 7^2 + 9^2

c^2 = 49+81

c^2 = 130

c = √130

c = 11.40 inches

The hypotenuse is about 11 inches and it is greater than the legs

11.40>7 ; 11.40 >9
