In a population of tomato plants mean fruit weight is 60 g and narrow-sense heritability (or realized heritability - h2) is 0.3.

Predict the results of artificial selection (the mean weight of the progeny) if tomato plants whose fruit averaged 80 g were selected from the original population and interbred.

Answer:

The mean weight of the progeny is 66 grams

Explanation:

Given -

Mean fruit weight of tomato plant (M1) = 60 g

Narrow sense heritability (h2) = 0.3 g

Mean weight of tomato plant selected for artificial selection (M0) = 80 g

h_2 = \frac{M_2 - M_1}{M_0 - M_1}

Substituting the given values in above equation, we get -

0.3 = \frac{M_2 - 60}{80 -60} \\0.3 = \frac{M_2 -60}{20} \\6 = M_2 -60\\M_2 = 6 + 60\\M_2 = 66

The mean weight of the progeny is 66 grams

Goryan [66]

I just took the test this would be the correct answer.

In the Precipitation Map of Washington, the dark orange section indicates low rainfall in the region. Using the Shaded Relief Map of Washington, you can tell that this area is flat, possibly a plain. These regions typically don't receive a lot of rain. The Precipitation Map of Washington has areas that are dark purple and dark green. This indicates that they both receive a lot of rainfall every year. If you look at these areas on the Shaded Relief Map of Washington, you can tell that these areas with a lot of rainfall are mountainous.

On the Precipitation Map of Washington, purple/blue means more rain, and orange/red means less rain. The Shaded Relief Map of Washington shows mountains (brown), valleys, plateaus, and canyons. Areas that are flat are smooth on the map. Areas with steep slopes and mountains look rougher.

Explanation: This was on my feedback from the test as possible answers.

Answer:

A

Explanation:

The enterobacteriaceae group (enteric bacteria) are bacteria found only in the intestine. Enteric literally means intestine. They are gram negative bacilli that are non- spore forming, most are motile. The consist of many genera and strains that colonize the small and large intestine and includes members of the non-pathogenic autochthonous (bacteria that are native species of the intestine, they are neither hurting nor helping the system) microbiota as well as pathogens. Examples of the pathogens include some strains of Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhii, Shigella spp. Examples of the non-pathogenic enteric bacteria includes Lactobacillus acidophillus and some strains of Escherichia coli.
