Answer:

d. Most of the Geats had deserted him in battle.

Explanation:

The long narrative epic poem "Beowulf" tells the heroic deeds and life of Beowulf who managed to kill Grendel, the monster and his mother. Then, in later years, he also fought against a dragon who had been terrorizing the people. But in this battle, he was killed by the dragon for his forces had deserted him, with no surety of help or backup. he managed to kill the dragon but he also got bitten by the dragon which was venomous. In the end, both died, leaving Wiglaf struggling to revive his master. When the retreating Geatish forces saw what happened, they came back to find that Beowulf had indeed died. Feeling remorseful and also dejected, they were also rebuked by Wiglaf. Ironically, the Geats erected a tower/ monument in his memory even after their desertion of Beowulf during the battle.

Imagine that you have rewritten Don Quixote, and the novel is now set in the present-day United States. Explain, in at least one
lara31 [8.8K]
Well, the most immediate contextual change is the setting itself: from Spain to the United States. Both have diverse terrains, but the connected-ness of the USA (via highways/interstates) would allow for a differently paced story. Additionally, the "resurrection of chivalry" would be replaced with some other revival movement to a "simpler time" and its ethics. To be fair, that notion is already prevalent among many conservatives and anti-progressives. The discourses between new Quixote and Panza would likely be as fire-y as recent Presidential debates, stoked in populist ideals and failed promises from those recent agents of change to society as a whole. Overall, it would be an interesting take on an old classic, and likely prompt serious discussion about our romanticizing of the past.
