In texts, the use of figurative language refers to the use of words, phrases or sentences that do not have a literal meaning but a more complex or aesthetic meaning, this occurs through the use metaphor, onomatopoeia, simile, among others that are classified as figures of speech. In reading, that the author uses figurative language implies the reader needs to analyze the text carefully to understand the real meaning and therefore to reveal hidden meanings as different from the literal language the words, phrases, etc. do not have a conventional meaning.
