The formula for the area of a circle is πr^2. Plug in the given radius for r. You now have π*2.2^2. Square the 2.2 first. 2.2^2 is 4.84. Now take that answer of 4.84 and multiply it by π or 3.14 as indicated in the directions for the problem. 4.84 * 3.14 = 15.1976
Now round that answer to the nearest tenth as the directions said to.

Your answer should be:
15.2 ft.^2

Use the definition of the derivative to differentiate v=4/2 pie r^3
nata0808 [166]

I suspect 4/2 should actually be 4/3, since 4/2 = 2, while 4/3 would make V the volume of a sphere with radius r. But I'll stick with what's given:

\displaystyle \frac{dV}{dr} = \lim_{h\to0} \frac{2\pi(r+h)^3-2\pi r^3}{h}

\displaystyle \frac{dV}{dr} = 2\pi \lim_{h\to0} \frac{(r^3+3r^2h+3rh^2+h^3)- r^3}{h}

\displaystyle \frac{dV}{dr} = 2\pi \lim_{h\to0} \frac{3r^2h+3rh^2+h^3}{h}

\displaystyle \frac{dV}{dr} = 2\pi \lim_{h\to0} (3r^2+3rh+h^2)

\displaystyle \frac{dV}{dr} = 2\pi \cdot 3r^2 = \boxed{6\pi r^2}

In Mathematica, you can check this result via

D[4/2*Pi*r^3, r]

Aaron needs 24 inches of copper wire for an experiment. The wire is sold by the centimeter. Given that 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters
tatiyna

\frac{1}{2.54} =\frac{24}{x}

Multiply both sides by 2.54.

1=\frac{24}{x} (2.54)

= \frac{60.96}{x}

Multiply both sides by x.

x = 60.96

Hence, Aaron needs 60.96 centimeters of wire.
