Penicillin has to be taken on an empty stomach as to improve absorption, it is usually recommended that penicillin is given on an empty stomach. However, current knowledge on pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties of penicillins does not support this recommendation. It is time to leave this advice behind, and rather focus on good compliance and completion of the entire treatment cure.
