The equation is a straight line on the graph because it is in slope-intercept form. (y=mx+b) It crosses the x-axis at (0,2) since if you substitute 0 for x, it comes out as 2. (3*0=0, 0+2) The y-intercept is the y-value when x is 0.
That equation is in what's called "standard form". It's the form where 'y' is all alone on one side and everything else is on the other side. The reason it's called "standard form" is because when the equation is written that way, you can just LOOK at it and tell so much about it.
