This theory by Robert Merton indicates that society subjects individuals to pressure to achieve socially accepted goals, for example buying a house, even if the person does not have the means to do so, this leads people to commit crimes to achieve the goals.  <span>Conformism is one of the attitudes that people adopt when they can not achieve the desired objectives.
