While complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine, alternative medicine is used instead of conventional medicine. CAM - Complementary and Alternative Medicine is still questionable from the scientific point of view. The 2007 National Health Interview Survey found that 38 percent of U.S. adults reported using CAM in the previous year. When prayer was included as a complementary form of medicine the proportion rose to more than 62 percent.
