Y = 3x - 5
y = 6x - 8

y = y
3x - 5 = 6x - 8
3x - 6x = -8 + 5
-3x = -3
x = -3/-3
x = 1

y = 3x - 5 ⇒ 3(1) - 5 = 3 - 5 ⇒ y = -2
y = 6x - 8 ⇒ 6(1) - 8 = 6 - 8 ⇒ y = -2

x = 1 ; y = -2   or  (1,-2) is the point of intersection.
