The political party symbol that emerged when cartoonists mocked Andrew Jackson was the Donkey. It became the symbol for the Democratic Presidential candidate Andrew Jackson and he started using the symbol for his political gains. The Republicans then started using the symbol of Elephant to negate the advantage of Andrew Jackson.
