Why are insertions and deletions called frameshift mutations?.
natta225 [31]

Answer:

if a mutation, for example, an insertion or a deletion of the nucleotide, occurs, this could result in the alteration of the reading frame. It completely changes the amino acid sequence. Such mutations are known as frameshift mutation (also called reading frame mutation, reading frame shift, or framing error).

2a) Which of the following statements about pyruvate oxidation IS TRUE?
Darina [25.2K]

The true statements are:

 • Substrate level phosphorylation ocvurs during Pyruvate oxidation
 • 32 ATP molecules can be made by cellular respiration but only 2 ATP molecules when oxygen is lacking
 • Electrons move from protein to protein due to increasing electronegativity in the electron transport chain
 • ADP is phosphorylated in the matrix of the mitochondria during oxidative phosphorylation
 • ATP inhibits pyruvate dehydrogenase by feedback inhibition

What is glucose oxidation?

Glucose oxidation refers to the process in the cells in which glucose molecules are oxidized to form ATP and carbon dioxide in the presence of oxygen.

The first stage of glucose oxidation is the conversion to pyruvate.

Pyruvate is oxidized to acetylCoA.

AcetylCoA enters the citric acid cycle to produce reducing equivalents, NADH for the electron transport chain.

 • The true statements about pyruvate oxidation is that there is substrate level phosphorylation during the process
 • When there is sufficient oxygen, 36 ATP molecules can be made (theoretically) by cellular respiration. However, when oxygen is lacking, only 2 ATP molecules are made.
 • In the electron transport chain of cellular respiration, electrons move from protein to protein due to increasing electronegativity
 • During oxidative phosphorylation, ADP is phosphorylated in the matrix of the mitochondria
 • Aerobic respiration can be regulated by feedback inhibition of pyruvate dehydrogenase by ATP.

Answer:

Plato Answer

Explanation:

Embryonic stem cells are plentiful, and they can create every cell in the human body. Researchers can use these cells to create tissues. They can possibly grow new organs in a lab to treat diseased organs. Adult stem cells are rarer in the human body, and they’re limited in the types of cells they can make.

An embryo can’t grow without its stem cells, so people have ethical concerns about their use. Adults can provide consent to donate their stem cells, so there are fewer ethical issues regarding the use of adult stem cells.

What is one reason why many geologists did not at first accept the theory of continental drift?
Ivan

The first reason was that his theory of continental drift was just too weak for most geologists to accept. Even though he believed the supercontinent that broke up into different continents moved, he did not have a clear explanation to how the continents moved. The other reason is that some of his explanation clashed with ideas that were widely accepted in the science communities. He used similar fossils from different continents to back up his theory of continental drift. However, at that time, many scientists that had observed similarities in fossils in places like South America and Africa believed there were similar fossils in different continents because of a land bridge that were formed by two continents.

Many science communities believe that land bridges allowed migration of many different species and even people to one place to another by large bodies of water frozen by low temperature known as ice age.
