The year is based off of Earth’s revolution around the sun. 1 year is equal to the amount of time that it takes for Earth to revolve once around the sun.
Viruses can multiply very quickly, and so they can go through natural selection at a much quicker rate, allowing certain vaccine resistant mutations to take over a population.
I am thinking it is by heating themselves in sunlight. I think this because when I bring lizards to mind, they are cold blooded, and they need sunlight to bath in so they do not start to lack warmth to live.
