When General Grant took command, the Union Army was still exchanging prisoners of war. This allowed each side to return their men to their country to fight again. Grant knew that the Union had more men and could produce more weapons than the Confederate. So he ended the prisoner exchange. This of course resulted in more men held in prisoner of war camps and creating problems for both sides, resulting in many deaths in these camps---both in the North and in the South. Grant also pressed his troops to stay on the attack. In some battles, his casualties were very high but he still knew that the Confederates could not replace their losses as easily as the Union could. Grant used General Sherman to force the war onto the civilian population and the industrial centers of the Confederacy. This was a new concept to most commanders. War was a duel between armies on the field of battle. The destruction of the industrial sites prevented an enemy from arming his troops and conducting war.
Saint Benedict of Nursia founded the Benedictine monastery at Monte Cassino, he is also the father of Western monacticism. He sought to create a sacred school and community and a safe place free from distraction, negativity and vices so, he turned the monastery into a place of work, prayer and space to provide spiritual life and guidance. Inside the monastery people learnt how to live and worship according to his rule. If a person wanted to live as a cenobite monk, he had to renounce to his possessions and distractions and follow God.
He also wrote The rule of Saint Benedict which is a book consisting of precepts for monks living under the authority of an abbot. Benedictines have been using The Rule of Saint Benedict for 15 centuries. As a result Benedict is regarded as the founder of Western monasticism as his rules gave way to reforms on the current Catholic hierarch.
Answer:
Codependency in market can be afflicted by a unique pathology, which can lead to either economies felling cheated or overburdened.
Explanation:
A good example of codependent markets is market between the United States of America and Peoples' Republic of China.
America as industrial economy with high consumption rate has savings problems and has relied on Chinese surplus savings to shore up her budget deficits overtime
China has increasingly turned to America for as her sustenance and anchor her economic development strategy on America. On the other hand America needs China for economic growth.
Over time America has relied on the vast saving from China to grow her economy, leading to most Chinese buying up American treasuries and other securities. America, unconsciously and systematically outsourced her basic production lines to China and import basically everything from china. At the same time providing China with the technology and strategy to grow her economy.
The whole world tends to depend on China for most of commodities. China has vast exporting machines and has also advanced rapidly in science and technology. Employment grew in China as well as consumption rate. Now China sits at advantage of having export ability and local consumption economy.
This is not going down well with America, resulting in many trade wars and imposition of tariffs to Chinese goods. America had wanted China to be part of the Briton Woods of global lending economy due to her surplus savings, but China has decided to go the way of Silk road fund and others.
Finally, of the two economies, the export economies benefits most from the symbiotic relationship between the industrial economies and export economies.
The correct answer would be: The 1939 cash-and-carry amendment to the Neutrality Acts favored Britain over Germany because "Britain had a larger fleet of ships to carry arms than Germany".
With this amendment, lobbied by Roosevelt, the U.S. was allowed to trade arms with belligerent countries in Europe. The only condition was that the recipients provided transport and paid immediately in cash. Great Britain and France had absolute control of the seas, so the amendment put them at a massive advantage over Germany by being able to transport weaponery safely and freely.
Hope this helps!
