The cell wall contains not only cellulose and protein, but other polysaccharides as well. The cell wall provides structural support and protection. Pores in the cell wall allow water and nutrients to move into and out of the cell. The cell wall also prevents the plant cell from bursting when water enters the cell.
Weathering causes the granite to break down into small particles - sand. The sand becomes buried and compacts into sandstone. If the sandstone continues to be buried and comes into close contact with high heat, such as magma, it can be turned into quartzite.
Abiotic factors include sunlight, temperature, moisture, wind or water currents, soil type, and nutrient availability. Ocean ecosystems are impacted by abiotic factors in ways that may be different from terrestrial ecosystems.
