Helen Keller was accompanied by her secretary Polly Thomson to the top of the Empire State Building. She was a young woman from Scotland whom Helen Keller hired to keep house. She started to work as a secretary in 1914 when Anne Sullivan's health began to fail and she became completely blind in 1932. Polly Thomson became Keller's constant companion and they traveled worldwide to raise funds for the blind.
