A)
y varies directly as x,  that means  y α x

y = kx,  where k = constant of proportionality.

y = kx,  recall y = 9, x=  18

y = kx

9 = k*18

18k =9

k = 9/18 = 0.5

y = kx,        substitute k = 0.5

y = 0.5x

b)

x = 5, y = ?

y = 0.5x

y = 0.5*5

y = 2.5

Hope this helps.

I assume that y = 1/2 of whatever x is, so in this case y = 2.5 because 5 (which is x) divided by 2 is 2.5

Hope this helps!

Name the types of angles shown.
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

C) supplementary angles

D) straight angle

Step-by-step explanation:

There is a straight line, and when an angle is a straight it means its 180 degrees which makes it a supplementary angle and a straight angle.

There are no angles that are 90 degrees so its not complementary or a right angle.

(x - 5)(x^2 + 4x - 2)
n200080 [17]

Distribute sum groups

x(x^2 + 4x - 2) - 5(x^2 + 4x - 2)

Distribute

x^3 + 4x^2 - 2x - 5(x^2 + 4x - 2)

Distribute

x^3 + 4x^2 - 2x - (5x^2 + 20x - 10)

Simplify brackets

x^3 + 4x^2 - 2x - 5x^2 - 20x + 10

Collect like terms

x^3 + (4x^2 - 5x^2) + (-2x - 20x) + 10

Simplify

x^3 - x^2 - 22x + 10

The first term of a sequence is -12. The recursive formula for the sequence is an = an-1 + 9. What are the next 3 terms in the s
Bess [88]
The next three terms are: -3, 6, and 15

To get each new term, we simply add 9 to the last term. So we add 9 to -12 to get -3. Then we add 9 to -3 to get 6. Finally we add 9 to 6 to get 15

In other words,
first term = -12
second term = first term+9 = -12+9 = -3
third term = second term + 9 = -3+9 = 6
fourth term = third term + 9 = 6+9 = 15

This process repeats forever though we only need three terms in this case.

So that's why the answer is the three values -3, 6 and 15

Solve: X/4=6 Can you please assist?
VLD [36.1K]

Answer:

x = 24

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to solve for x, you need to isolate it on one side of the equal sign. So in this case you need to multiply both sides by 4, in order to cancel the dividing factor 4 that appears in the denominator :

\frac{x}{4} =6\\4\,*\,\frac{x}{4} =6\,*\,4\\x = 24
