The frequencies of the colours are different and that is what determines what colors we see in order from low to high this are the frequencies:

Color

Red   430–480 THz

Orange   480–510 THz

Yellow  510–540 THz

Green  540–580 THz

Blue   580–610 THz

Indigo 610–670 THz

Violet  670–750 THz

As you can see the lowest frequency is the red, and the highest frequency is the color violet, that is the visible spectrum that humans can see, everything below and above is invisible to the naked human eye.
