1917 thr Russian Revolution took place. The communist government created the Soviet Union. The United States did not recognize the Soviet Union and responded to the revolution participating in what was known as the "Allied Intervention in the Russian Civil War", together with its World War I Allies, to help fight for democracy and the creation of a democratic government in Russia.
